Health & Nutrition
Out of the total 65,003 patented provided health services in nine districts on 20-08-2010, 21% were skin diseases, ARI 18% and diarrhoea 15%.
72 cartons of Zinc Sulphate, 1050 cartons of BP5 Biscuits, ORS 60 Pallets, 5000 CDKs 230 tents, Water Purification Tabs (4-5 litres) 142 packs and for 1 litre 90 packs have been distributed to all seven district i.e. Mianwali, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Khushab, Multan.
Health education implementation has been started in district Muzaffargarh with joint efforts of UNICEF and National Programme for PHC/FP. Mass community education started through announcements on 30 vehicles of LHW programme. Registration of under 5 children, pregnant and lactating women’s is in process in all relief centres of Muzaffargarh district.
On 20 August, preventive health services provided in 9 affected districts included BCG 637, OPV 3928, Penta 1358, measles 5276, TT 902 and Vitamin A supplementation to 4096 children.
Wash
121,793 affected people (including 42,628 children) provided with safe drinking with the help of water tankers in district Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Khushab, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur on 22nd August.
200,000 Aqua tablets, 6 Tarpaulin rolls, 208 Nerox filters, 870 Hygiene kits, 50,000 PUR sachets, 3 water purification units, 20 water bladders (5,000 L), 21 water bladders (10,000 L) provided to implementing partners for onward distribution and installation in relief centers and communities. 15,000 soap bars for Dera Ghazi Khan & 8,000 soap bars for Rajanpur were purchased and distributed through LHWs.
7,000 family hygiene kits provided to implementing partners for onward distribution in communities.
Child Protection
1403 children are registered at 5 Child Friendly Spaces in Multan, Muzaffargarh and Rahim Yar Khan. Out of them 8 are separated and 43 are orphan children. All of them receive recreational and non-formal education services, 513 children received psycho social care. 1 missing child was reunified with the family. Counselling services were provided to 35 adults in camps.

Rapid assessment is ongoing in Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Mianwali and Rajanpur districts. Detailed information is being gathered regarding separated and orphan children. Majority of the orphan children are not due to flood and they are taking care by extended family members.
Education
Total number of partially/fully damaged schools in 14 Districts is 3228 that includes primary schools 2537, secondary 518, and high/higher secondary 178.
Total number of IDP camps established in schools in 14 districts is 1889.
Shelter schools are functional in all major relief camps and IDP camps in Rahim Yar Khan. Shelter schools are run by government teachers with support of ‘School in a Box’ and ‘Recreational’ kits provided by UNICEF.
